Protectosaur Meetings – Tuesday

However, the meetings aren’t closed off to only Pros – they are more like Town Hall style meetings for everyone to discuss island business. Game of the Week – Vine Swingin’

December 13th, 2010

Grab that Vine!

Hey gang, WeboGames are in full swing and now there should be a lot more swingin’ going on this week as well. That’s right, one of my all-time favorites, Vine Swingin’, is the Game of the Week this week and I’m so excited about it! A couple of dinos are running the Leader Board on Vine Swingin’ right now, but I expect the competition to get a lot stiffer after this announcement. Just don’t stiffen up as you try to swing from vine to vine, it’s important to keep it loose!

This week Vine Swingin’ is giving away MAJOR amounts of coins, more than it ever has! So if you’re saving up for a tuxedo the first place you should head is to Soggy Bottom Swamp for some serious swingin’ action. Just don’t spend TOO much time in the Swamp, WeboGames are still wide open and it’s anyone’s to win or lose, so be sure to play all the games and try to make as many Leader Boards as you can. I’ll see you around the Island on your quests to score a trophy in WeboGames!

Weekend Review: WeboGames Midway Point

Snow Dino Takin’ Over!

I’ve never seen Webosaurs look so ICY! New Snowman Fossil Magic has taken over all of Webosaurs Island. Snowdinos can be spotted flapping and strolling across all parts of the Island. Stretch looks a little sassy in Snowdino form and Pterry just looks like he ate too much. If you haven’t yet, make sure you get into Webosaurs Island and see how you and your friends look as a Snowdino!

In other news, we’re halfway through the WeboGames and it’s still all up in the air! We announced the current Leaders this weekend on the Island and a couple of us took some time off of playing games to congratulate the current Leaders. Half-way through the games the leaders are:

3rd Place – Massive Tie

Congrats to our leaders! Just don’t get too confident, it’s still anyone’s ball game. The Leader Boards will be updated today and again early tomorrow and then we’ll have four solid days to compete before the final tallies are made. I haven’t even started to make my final push for the gold yet, I might sneak onto a couple of Leader Boards before it’s all said and done, so watch out and keep playing! It’s back to Power Lifting for me!

Hey gang, there have been some rumblings of the Webosaurs Leader Boards doing some wonky things this week, well, Ingli and Rexxy are now hard at work fixing them so they should be fully functional at some point this weekend or early next week. Never fear! Keep playing those games and trying to get to the top of the Leader Boards because from now on Rexxy is only going to be erasing duplicate scores and if you can make your score stick on a Leader Board you’re there to stay until someone knocks you off! Woot! Because all of you dinos are going to be burning so much energy this weekend playing games, Webosaurs very own Edmarka decided to bake you some cookies to keep you full of energy, be sure to thank her if you see her. Everyone that makes it to both parties this weekend will be nomming on these very special Edmarka Cookies! Wooot! See you on the Island!

Weekly Dino Fact: Koreaceratops go fetch!

Good boy Koreaceratops!

Hey gang, our dino fact this week comes directly from our old buddy Rex! I was going to write about one of the questions you left as a comment on last week’s post about Dunkleosteus, but Rex told me about Koreaceratops yesterday and it was too good to pass up! Finally a new dinosaur was discovered somewhere other than China, although Koreaceratops was also discovered in East Asia. Koreaceratops is the first horned dinosaur (ceratopsian) to be discovered on the Korean Peninsula. Koreaceratops roamed around the Korean Peninsula around 103 million years ago and is a cousin of the famed Triceratops… just much smaller and without horns. This little guy was about the size of a Labrador Retriever and like Labs probably loved to swim. Koreaceratops had long spines called neural arches protruding from it’s tail, what this means is that he had some sort of large fan sticking out of the top of his powerful tail. This has lead scientists to conclude that Koreaceratops spent a lot of time swimming in the water looking for food. Because he was so small, taking to the water was probably a good form of defense for Koreaceratops too. I bet he was great at playing fetch, Horns probably spent hours tossing a stick into the water for Koreacertops to bring back. I wonder if Koreaceratops could play dead and roll over too? He looks like such a good dino. What do you think about Koreacertops? They seem like they would be really playful dinos, we might need to bring in some Koreaceratops as Webosaurs pets! Winter Weather Holiday Party – Saturday/Sunday

Brrrrr those are some coooooold dinos!

Hey gang, as I’m sure you all know we’re right in the middle of WeboGames 2010. I’m sure we’re all going to be playing games and trying to get to the tops of Leader Boards all weekend long, but for those of you that need a break from the competition and those of you that just want to party we’re going to be celebrating the beginning of winter and the Holiday Season in true Webosaurs style. We’ll be meeting up each day in Webo Ridge and then moving throughout the winter landscapes spreading holiday cheer. We’ll be caroling, singing holiday songs, playing games, playing winter trivia AND most importantly announcing the WeboGames leaders through the first week. That’s right, on Saturday and Sunday we’ll be announcing who is currently in the lead and then later posting them on the Blog and on the Forum. See if you’re in the lead or close to the top, then you’ll know what kind of work you have to do to earn a WeboGames Trophy. There will also be a couple of Surprise Guests throughout the weekend and we’ll be giving out past winter items in exchange for winter trivia! So stay warm and keep playing games, the end of the WeboGames will be here before you know it! See you this weekend!

Weekly Environmental Fact: Troubled Bluefin Tuna

You are beast Bluefin.

The mighty Bluefin Tuna is in serious trouble. You may not be able to tell from this picture, but Atlantic Bluefin Tuna are seriously beastly machines. These bad boys (and gals) can weigh over 900 lbs, are apex predators and along with Marlins are the largest bony fish on earth. I’m sure they don’t look quite as powerful on your tuna fish sandwich, but if you’re not a picky eater, you’ve probably eaten one of these for lunch at some point in your life. Which is precisely why they are in such trouble, Atlantic Bluefin Tuna have been a commercial catch for as long as mankind has been fishing, from the ancient Greeks and Phoenicians right up to the can of tuna in your pantry and the delicious pink meat in your sushi roll. As delicious as these powerful fish are, the problem is that we’re getting greedy and taking too many out of our oceans. Conservationists were hoping that fishermen would stop hauling them in during 2011 in order to allow the Bluefin time to recover, but sadly fishermen from 48 countries decided to barely lower the limit on Bluefin that will be caught during 2011. Conservationists from Greenpeace and other environmental groups are fighting the decision, but if we don’t stop fishing for Bluefin so heavily we’re going to lose them forever. The Bluefin Tuna are in need of a group similar to the Sea Shephards to look out for them, we can still fish for them and eat them, but not in such high numbers. Games Tour – Friday

Rexxy on the Leader Board! What, what?

Hey gang, it’s Rexxy appreciation time! You may know that Webosaurs’ very own PERcY came up with the idea for WeboGames, but Rexxy has been working serious overtime to make the games a success this year. You see, all of the Leader Boards are seriously rusted and Rexxy is having to go from game to game and put some serious elbow grease into turning them back and wiping them clean. He was clearing them all off for a week before the games and is going to be clearing them this week and next week as well. Since Rexxy’s been working so hard I think we should let him have a little fun and join us for a party! What do you think, he deserves a party right? I think so too, this Friday at 17 WST we’re going to let Rexxy have some fun and play some of the games he’s been working so hard on, we’re also going to give him a big thank you for bringing WeboGames back to the Island this year. Rexxy’s been working so hard that he’s been sleeping in the Tree Fort, can you believe that? So let’s meet him there on Friday at 17:00 WST and have a great time making a ton of Leader Boards around the Island! Woot!

WeboGames Update

Hey gang, WeboGames 2010 are upon us and dinos are scrambling around the Island trying to get to the top of as many Leader Boards as possible. Have you gotten to the top of any yet!? I just wanted to give you all a sneak peak of the trophies that we’re going to be giving out at the conclusion of the WeboGames. They are a special 2010 edition, what do you think, pretty sweet huh? Don’t worry if you’re not in the top three at the end of WeboGames there may be another opportunity for you to win one of these sweet trophies this weekend too, so stay tuned. Also, everyone who participates in the WeboGames this year will receive this rad medal.

I also have to correct a previous mistake that I made on the GOTW post yesterday. Dino Dig will NOT be included in the final tally for the WeboGames because there is a cap and everyone who finds a dino gets the same score. That being said, everything else is fair game! I know you’re all going to be playing major games during WeboGames, but at least one extra game will be giving out MAJOR coinage this week during your quest for a WeboGames Trophy. WeboGames Returns! Rules and Regulations

December 5th, 2010

For everyone who was not at the Guess Who? Party today, I will relay the big announcement that Rexxy dropped on us… WEBOGAMES has returned. That’s right! For the second straight year there will be all out competition on Webosaurs Island. We’ll be competing for the next two weeks to make as many leader boards as possible! We will have a small Opening Ceremony Tomorrow at 19:00 WST in the Lizard Lounge. At that time the games will officially begin! WeboGames will last almost two full weeks this year and they will end at the stroke of midnight on Thursday December 16th. We will have an Awards Ceremony on Saturday December 18th. Let the games BEGIN! Rules and Regulations: The goal of WeboGames is to make as many leaderboards as possible. This includes every game on the island, even Quizbos and Battle Arenas. For every leaderboard made, the player will earn one point. On the night of December 16th, all the points will be tallied and the players with the top 3 points will earn trophies. You can only earn one point per leaderboard! Every day or two the leaderboard will be edited. Meaning if one player is running the leaderboard, all but the top score will be deleted to give other players a chance to make the board. Just like last year it doesn’t matter where fall on a leader board. Just that you’re on there! I can’t wait to compete! More details about trophies and prizes will follow. Weekly Enviromental Fact: Godzilla Protects the Whales

In honor of Nigel Marven’s recent 50th birthday we’re now going to have a Weekly Environmental Fact to go along with our Weekly Dino Facts. It’s important to spread the word about what is really happening on planet earth and how some of the beautiful species of plants and animals that inhabit it are endangered. The only way to help save them is to spread awareness and get more people to join the fight to protect these creatures and save the planet.

Our first post comes by way of Webosaurs very own Flyboy. He brought this interesting topic to my attention and now I’m going to share it with you all. The Sea Shepard Conservation Society recently launched their new 115 foot vessel “Gojira” (Godzilla in Japanese), to help combat Japanese whaling vessels that are heading to the antarctic for the beginning of whaling season. Whaling is illegal internationally, but Japanese whaling vessels have long used a loophole by saying that their vessels are harpooning the whales for research, but still selling the whale meat commercially back in Japan. Godzilla will basically attempt to run interference and sabotage the whalers plans. They will essentially attempt to locate the whaling vessels and stop them from harpooning whales, because Godzilla is so much faster than the whaling vessels it will enable them to avoid attacks by the whaling ships, as things sometimes get nasty out on the high seas. Let’s hope for the success of Godzilla and an end to commercial whaling. What do you think about this cause? What other environmental issues are you concerned about? Let me know your thoughts!

Comedy Night Friday

December 1st, 2010

I haven’t heard some awesome dino jokes in a little while and after the hilarious comics I read last week I’m dying to have my dino buddies crack me up again! By popular demand we’re going to have three winners this week, 1st, 2nd and 3rd, no exceptions! I am going to judge them myself with a little help from my mods. Stretch and Horns are out this week because those guys are way too nice and can’t ever pick winners! However, there are some specific rules this week. Jokes must be either dino or winter themed to be considered a winner and teams doing funny skits will also have a good opportunity to win. Get together with a couple of buddies and write up some hilarity and that could be your key to winning  a sick trophy or just come up with a funny joke all on your own for personal glory. Start brainstorming ASAP and I’ll see you all on Friday for some joke time.

ALSO, has anyone seen Rexxy? He’s been absent from the Island for the last couple of weeks, I’ve heard he’s planning something crazy-awesome for next week, but I’m not sure what. Any ideas as to what he’s up to? Keep your eyes peeled for a Rexxy sighting and if you see him make sure to bug him about what he’s up to. Stay tuned this weekend because Rexxy could pop in with a big announcement.

Game of the Week – Magma Madness

Go as fast as you can… just don’t fall in!

Game of the Week time gang! Often overlooked, but one of the most entertaining games on the Island, Magma Madness is the Game of the Week this week. I’ve always wondered how that wooden plank doesn’t melt in the magma, but try to keep your mind off of that and on the goal of the game, going as fast as you can to hit the next check point all the while picking up coins as you go.

As always with the Game of the Week, Magma Madness will be giving out a MEGA amount of coins this week. So roll on over to the Carnivorous Cavern and jump on that magical piece of wood and paddle your heart out!

Weekend Review: Pterry, Stretch and Horns Hang Out

Hey gang, what a wild and wacky weekend on Webosaurs Island, there was something for everyone, the gamers and the trivia fans! Friday we were hanging out in the Voodoo Hideaway with Pterry for some really challenging trivia! Pterry usually offers up some pretty easy questions, but these were tough, I did manage to get one right though, that was exciting! The rest of the weekend was all about games, on Saturday Horns and Stretch took us around the island on an epic games tour. We never did get confirmation as to why Horns was late, could it have really been a ballet recital? We played a whole lot of games and took home a whole lot of coins. Which party did you like best this weekend? What types of parties would you like to see on Webosaurs Island soon?

Webosaurs Island was also buzzing with new dinos and a lot of new members thanks to our 99 Cent Membership Special. I’m so happy that a bunch of new dinos have the opportunity to play with all of the best features on Webosaurs. Special thanks to Flyboy for making it happen! We should have an exciting week as we move further and further into winter. I can’t wait to see all of you on the Island soon! Keep on bluggin’!

Nigel Marven Turns 50!

You’re the best Nigel!

Many of you hardcore Webosaurs fans may already know this, but today is Nigel Marven’s 50th birthday! Nigel Marven is the star of Webosaurs incredible Webosodes and truly one of the coolest, smartest, most interesting dudes around. One of my Webosaurs buddies, Snarl, put together and incredible Nigel Marven Birthday Tribute on Trodin’s Webosaurs Blog and I wanted to share it with you. Check it out here. Horns, Pterry and I just sat back with a big bucket of popcorn and went through the comics, we judged them one by one and let me say that not one of us can stop cracking up! Amazing work by everyone that submitted a comic. I can’t believe how funny some of them are! There were all different types of comics so Pterry and Horns came up with a couple of different categories to have winners in. Congrats to everyone, but especially our winners.
